The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has recently unveiled the mandatory national standard titled "Safety Requirements for Traction Batteries Used in Electric Vehicles," designed to mitigate the risk of spontaneous combustion accidents in traction batteries through rigorous product design. According to CCTV reports, even though the implementation of this new standard is officially scheduled for July 1, 2026, there has been a marked surge in new product testing and evaluation projects related to it. The standard encompasses a comprehensive array of safety tests, encompassing thermal propagation resistance, underbody impact durability, and post-fast-charging safety assessments, all aimed at bolstering the overall safety performance of traction batteries.
