The year 2025 marks the culmination of the state-owned enterprise reform deepening and upgrading campaign. Recently, there have been fresh developments in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) among central state-owned enterprises in sectors like shipbuilding and energy, while the establishment of central state-owned enterprises in emerging fields has gained momentum. Industry experts note that, fueled by factors such as policy support for state-owned enterprise reforms and industrial transformation and upgrading, central state-owned enterprises are poised to embark on a new wave of M&A activity. Against this backdrop, the restructuring of Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Changan Automobile, both prominent central state-owned automakers, has garnered significant attention.

Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Automobile, disclosed that the restructuring plan has been largely finalized, and Changan is actively engaged in advancing it. Pan Helin, a member of the expert panel on information and communication economics at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, opines that the merger between Dongfeng and Changan will amplify scale and concentration, bolster market share, and consequently enhance their competitive edge.
