On May 12, the U.S. stock market closed on a high note, with all three major indexes reporting substantial gains. The Nasdaq Composite surged 4.35%, while the S&P 500 climbed 3.26%, both achieving new closing highs since March 3. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also posted a notable increase of 2.81%, setting a new peak since March 27.
Among the tech giants, widespread gains were observed. Amazon soared over 8%, Meta jumped more than 7%, Apple and Tesla both advanced over 6%, NVIDIA gained over 5%, Google and Intel each rose over 3%, and Microsoft increased by more than 2%. Notably, Netflix was an outlier, declining by more than 2%.
Popular Chinese stocks listed in the U.S. also enjoyed a broad rally. WeRide surged over 27%, Pony.ai neared a 12% increase, XPeng Motors and Bilibili both climbed over 7%, JD.com, Pinduoduo, and Li Auto each rose over 6%, and NIO, Alibaba, Baidu, and iQIYI all gained over 5%.
