On May 8, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) publicly sought opinions on a revised plan for the mandatory national standard titled "Technical Requirements for Safety of Automobile Door Handles." This initiative addresses concerns regarding the difficulty in identifying and operating hidden door handles, as well as their failure during power outages. The objective of the standard is to enhance the safety logic of door handles in accident scenarios, incorporate requirements for mechanical or power-off protection, ensure that doors can be opened in emergencies, and ultimately reduce the challenges associated with escape and rescue efforts.
