The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is inviting public comments on the mandatory national standard titled "Safety Technical Requirements for Automobile Door Handles." This standard aims to address the lack of specifications for hidden interior door handles, enhance safety protocols in scenarios such as collisions and fires, and incorporate design requirements like power-off protection to mitigate the risks associated with escape and rescue efforts. The standard covers M1 and N1 category vehicles, as well as multi-purpose trucks, with a projected implementation period of 22 months.

The increasing popularity of new energy vehicles has led to the rise of hidden door handles as a design element that enhances the technological feel. However, these handles have also been criticized for issues like insufficient strength and difficult operation. In response, Geely Automobile has made related core technologies available to the industry, striving to strike a balance between safety and technological innovation.
