The U.S. Department of Transportation has recently announced revisions to regulations introduced during the Biden administration, significantly easing the reporting requirements for automakers and technology companies regarding accidents involving fully or partially autonomous vehicles. According to the new guidelines, incidents involving Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) vehicles—where the vehicle is towed away without resulting in casualties or airbag deployment—will no longer necessitate reporting. This change is intended to streamline the reporting process and eliminate unnecessary information overload.
