On April 23rd, six prominent organizations within the U.S. automotive sector jointly addressed a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of Commerce, and the U.S. Trade Representative, voicing their strong opposition to the impending 25% tariff on automotive components scheduled to commence on May 3rd. The letter highlighted that such a measure could potentially undermine the very fabric of U.S. auto production, given that numerous automakers are already grappling with financial challenges and are ill-equipped to shoulder additional expenses. This, in turn, could trigger a cascade of broader industry issues, endangering the stability and growth of the sector.
