At the Shanghai Auto Show on April 23, Pony.ai Co-founder and CEO Peng Jun announced that 2025 will mark the inaugural year of Robotaxi mass production. He underscored that fulfilling this milestone necessitates the fulfillment of three crucial criteria: product readiness, technological prowess, and operational efficiency. With confidence, Peng Jun affirmed that Pony.ai has comprehensively met these requirements. The Robotaxi mass production initiative, dubbed the Kunlun Plan, is anticipated to come to fruition in 2025. On the opening day of the auto show, Pony.ai unveiled its seventh-generation automotive-grade autonomous driving software and hardware system solution, showcasing for the first time three Robotaxi models designed for mass production. Peng Jun further emphasized that large-scale commercialization of Robotaxi necessitates achieving a significant level of mass production, estimating that the company will reach break-even when its fleet size reaches 50,000 operating vehicles.
