BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. announced a recall initiative on April 18, targeting specific imported X3 M40i and X4 M40i vehicles. This recall affects 1,291 X4 M40i models manufactured between March 14, 2022, and October 6, 2024, as well as 2,445 X3 M40i models produced between March 14, 2022, and July 26, 2024. The reason behind this recall is an issue with the on-board diagnostics (OBD) software, where the threshold for activating the particle trap (GPF) monitoring item is set excessively high. This defect could potentially pose emission-related hazards. To address this concern, BMW (China) will offer a free software upgrade for all affected vehicles, ensuring the issue is resolved without any cost to the customers.
