On March 29, it was reported that China's new energy vehicle (NEV) industry is booming, yet maintenance challenges are gradually coming to light. By the close of 2024, the country's NEV fleet stood at 31.4 million, whereas the number of repair enterprises hovered below 20,000, and the count of professional repair personnel was even more dire, totaling less than 100,000. Shenzhen, a city boasting over 1.2 million NEVs, only had approximately 2,000 repair technicians holding technical certifications, resulting in a gap exceeding 20,000. Liao Shaoping, President of the Shenzhen Automobile Maintenance Industry Association, emphasized that the after-sales maintenance of NEVs has emerged as a pivotal issue, marked by an acute shortage of skilled personnel.
