On March 28, Bernd Lange, Chairman of the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade, highlighted that President Trump's imposition of a 25% tariff on all imported cars would significantly elevate the cost of new vehicles in the United States. He stressed that the European Union would not bow to American pressure and was prepared to take robust countermeasures. Lange expressed the view that the EU's current responses to tariffs on steel and aluminum were insufficient. Should the United States encroach upon the EU's core economic interests, the Union should contemplate levying tariffs on American digital services, ultimately aiming to resolve disputes through negotiations.
