Beijing Benz Recalls 12,308 Locally Produced EQA and EQB Vehicles Due to High-Voltage Battery Safety Concerns

Starting from April 16, 2025, Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. intends to recall 12,308 locally produced EQA and EQB vehicles manufactured between April 2021 and October 2023. This recall stems from inconsistencies in the production process of the high-voltage batteries, resulting in diminished battery reliability and posing potential risks of internal short circuits and fires. To address this issue, Beijing Benz will offer a free upgrade to the battery management system software through authorized dealerships, aimed at eliminating the underlying hazard. Additionally, the company advises owners to set their vehicle's charging limit to 80% until the recall is completed, as a precautionary measure to ensure safety.
