On March 17, the management of German automaker Audi announced an agreement with labor unions to streamline its workforce in Germany, targeting a reduction of 7,500 jobs by 2029. This strategic move aims to streamline costs and bolster the company's competitive edge. Speaking at an employee gathering, Audi CEO Gernot Doerner emphasized the need for Audi to become swifter, more agile, and more efficient, necessitating inevitable staffing adjustments. Simultaneously, Audi revealed plans to invest 8 billion euros in its German factories over the next five years, focusing on technological innovations and production line upgrades.
Furthermore, the Ingolstadt plant is poised to take on production of models currently manufactured in other countries and introduce a new electric vehicle model, accelerating the company's transition towards electrification.
