On March 11, Volkswagen AG of Germany announced its projection for a decline in its operating profit margin to 5.5%-6.5% by 2025, down from 5.9% recorded in the previous year. The company adopts a cautious stance regarding the future outlook, which is attributed to the industry's weakened demand, escalating costs, and ongoing trade tensions. For 2024, Volkswagen Group proposed a dividend payment of €6.36 per preferred share, markedly lower than the €9.06 paid out in the previous year. This reduction underscores the company's cost-saving initiatives following the announcement of significant layoffs and capacity reductions in December 2023. Chief Financial Officer Arno Antlitz remarked that this forecast mirrors the global economic challenges and the profound transformations the automotive industry is currently undergoing.
