Audi anticipates unveiling a new generation of its iconic R8 supercar by the close of 2027, with this plug-in hybrid variant poised to become the most potent and swiftest production vehicle in the brand's illustrious history. Sharing a platform with the Lamborghini Urus, the new R8 will boast a formidable combination of a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and three axial flux electric motors, collectively delivering an astonishing 907 horsepower and offering an all-electric driving range of approximately 9.66 kilometers. The new R8 will be available in both sleek coupe and open-top convertible configurations, designed with daily usability in mind. This transition to a plug-in hybrid powertrain represents a transformative shift for the R8 since its initial launch in 2006. Furthermore, Audi intends to develop an FIA-certified version of the new R8, aiming to reclaim its place in endurance racing. The third-generation R8 will be crafted at Audi's renowned Böllinger Höfe factory in Germany.
