Data released by the Danish Road Traffic Authority indicates that the 2020 Tesla Model 3 has a strikingly high failure rate of 23% in safety inspections, significantly surpassing the 9% failure rate observed among other electric vehicles. Inspectors uncovered a total of 1,392 defects in Tesla vehicles, which is three times the number found in other electric cars. These defects primarily concern the lighting, braking, steering, and suspension systems. Notably, similar issues have also been detected during German TÜV inspections. The Danish Automobile Federation anticipates that owners of the new Model 3 may encounter comparable problems. Despite the Model Y's robust performance in the Danish market, Tesla has been compelled to recall 380,000 vehicles in the United States after some Model 3 and Model Y owners reported losing steering assistance. This issue was subsequently resolved via OTA updates.
