China's "new three industries" — photovoltaic products, lithium batteries, and electric vehicles — hold commanding positions in the global market, commanding market shares of 85%, 79.8%, and 70.4%, respectively. The robust growth of these sectors not only propels China's energy transition and progress towards carbon neutrality but also harbors the potential to significantly drive the internationalization of the Chinese yuan. Liu Hanyuan, a deputy to the National People's Congress, has proposed that the government bolster the overseas expansion of the "new three industries" supply chain to expedite the internationalization of the Chinese yuan and expand domestic photovoltaic installations to cater to the development needs for achieving the "3060" carbon neutrality targets. He emphasized that China's photovoltaic industry enjoys an unassailable global lead, while the lithium battery energy storage and new energy vehicle industries have also achieved remarkable success. It is anticipated that over the next two to three decades, these industries will facilitate the outflow of funds ranging from 50 to 100 trillion Chinese yuan, strongly underpinning the Chinese yuan's ascent as a global currency.

To this end, Liu Hanyuan suggests that the government augment policy support to encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in and construct new energy projects worldwide, fostering mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. Additionally, he advocates establishing special funds to assist enterprises in addressing key technological and equipment challenges, further enhancing the international competitiveness of China's "new three industries".
