On March 5, local time, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany announced that the United States would provide a one-month tariff exemption for vehicles imported under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Prior to this announcement, on March 3, President Donald Trump had stated that the 25% tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada would come into effect on March 4 and that retaliatory tariffs were planned to commence from April 2. This exemption specifically applies to automotive products imported through the USMCA for a duration of one month.
