In 2024, Shanghai Port witnessed a significant surge in its auto throughput, reaching a remarkable 3.63 million vehicles, marking a 15% year-on-year increase. This impressive feat propelled Shanghai Port past the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium, securing its position as the world's leading port in terms of auto throughput. Notably, over 60% of this throughput comprised foreign trade autos. Haitong International, the primary terminal of Shanghai Port, played a pivotal role in this achievement, exporting 1.298 million autos last year, while the South Port Terminal contributed over 370,000 vehicles. Additionally, bonded transit business experienced a rapid upswing, further underscoring the port's dynamic growth and global prominence.
