Li Changqing, a second-level inspector at the Quality Development Bureau of the State Administration for Market Regulation, disclosed at the World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference that since the inception of China's vehicle recall system, there have been a cumulative total of over 3,200 vehicle recalls, encompassing more than 120 million vehicles. During the first nine months of this year alone, there were 617 recalls of intelligent connected vehicles, involving a staggering 20.3938 million units. Through rigorous defect investigations, administrative consultations, on-site inspections, and technical exchanges, recalls for 14.5268 million vehicles were initiated, representing 71.23% of the total recalls. He urged companies to place safety at the forefront throughout the entire lifecycle of research and development, verification, and product iteration, even as they pursue cutting-edge technologies. He emphasized the importance of not compromising safety for the sake of speed-to-market and warned against the premature application of "radical innovations" to vehicles without adequate verification.
