On October 19, during the sub-forum on the global expansion of Chinese smart automotive brands at the 2026 China Brand Internationalization Forum, Liu Yan, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), emphasized the need for automakers to remain vigilant against the risks of "involution spillover" amidst an anticipated surge in automotive exports exceeding 10 million units this year. She urged the industry to forsake opportunistic practices and embrace a long-term strategic vision.
Liu Yan highlighted that China's automotive sector is transitioning from mere vehicle exports to a more holistic global expansion model, encompassing localized production, technology transfers, and brand exports. Nevertheless, she pointed out persistent gaps in brand development, trust establishment, compliance management, and the development of overseas service networks.
To address these challenges, Liu Yan called on automakers to bolster product technology and quality, deepen localization strategies, strengthen brand-building efforts, and enhance user service systems. By doing so, she argued, automakers can secure the enduring trust of global consumers and lay a solid foundation for sustainable international growth.
