The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) revealed that a panel of experts has confirmed that a software glitch in the flight computers of some Boeing 737 MAX aircraft does not pose a safety risk, clearing the final hurdle for the certification of the 737 MAX 10. Previously, the software had been accused of potentially preventing pilots from using automatic flight guidance under specific landing conditions, and the latest software version might increase the operational burden on pilots during go-arounds. Consequently, the FAA had temporarily suspended the certification of the 737 MAX 10 pending further analysis. The 737 MAX 7, which uses the same software, received FAA certification in August, which is expected to alleviate some concerns among related airlines. Aviation industry officials anticipate that the 737 MAX 10 could receive certification as early as later this month. If certification is delayed for an extended period, major U.S. airlines that have ordered the aircraft may be affected. Subsequently, regulatory authorities will issue a special airworthiness information notice to ensure all parties are aware of Boeing's relevant notifications.
