On Tuesday, a prominent safety organization urged EU member states to reject the application submitted by American automaker Tesla. The organization highlighted that Tesla’s driver assistance system includes a “speed offset” feature, which permits the vehicle to raise its maximum speed to 150% of the detected speed limit—effectively exceeding the limit by 50%. Additionally, the safety organization noted that Tesla has not applied for an exemption from compliance with the relevant regulations set forth by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), which would allow its FSD system to override speed limits through this specific function.
