On September 16, reports indicated that the national standard, Technical Specifications for Battery Swap Systems of Electric Motorcycles and Electric Mopeds (GB/T 47352—2026), will come into effect on October 1. Electric motorcycles equipped with battery swap systems boast several benefits, including straightforward operation, cost-effectiveness, and enhanced electrical safety. However, until now, there has been a notable absence of standardized performance criteria for the battery swap capabilities of these vehicles as a whole. The new standard comprehensively outlines technical requirements and testing methodologies, focusing on three key goals: speed, safety, and reliability. Specifically, it aims to accelerate battery swap times, guarantee the safety of the battery swap process, and bolster the overall reliability of the system. The introduction of this standard is expected to significantly improve the safety of battery swap systems for motorcycles, making daily battery replacements more convenient and user-friendly for consumers. It will also offer a safer, more convenient, and adaptable solution for short-distance travel.
