The 'Hangjing Zhixing' traffic management robot, which represents China’s first robot traffic police unit under the Traffic Management Branch of the Hangzhou Public Security Bureau, has undergone a comprehensive functional enhancement. This upgrade has notably improved interactive service convenience, autonomous patrol capabilities, and human-robot cooperative management. The upgraded robots now boast bilingual (Chinese-English) Q&A functionality, directional noise-cancelling microphones, and other advanced features, allowing them to precisely identify and address tourists' needs, even amidst noisy surroundings. When queried for directions, they can simultaneously offer navigation maps, introductions to scenic spots, and additional information. In terms of autonomous patrols, the robots can adeptly maneuver using surround-view motion control to oversee traffic management in multiple directions. Leveraging multi-modal fusion positioning technology, they can autonomously chart routes and dynamically evade obstacles, steadily progressing towards 24/7 autonomous patrols. Presently, this unit, comprising 15 robots, has been stationed at crucial intersections in the West Lake scenic area, the Hubin business district, and other key locations. They have delivered over 11,000 instances of convenient services, issued over 230,000 traffic violation advisories, and alleviated police workload by 30% to 50% during peak hours at major intersections. Throughout the autumn tourism peak season, the robots will be predominantly stationed in the West Lake scenic area, with real-time flexible deployment based on pedestrian and vehicle traffic, ensuring safe travel for both Chinese and international tourists.
