On September 13, Hyundai Motor Group made an announcement regarding its ongoing development of autonomous driving technology, with a primary focus on Atria AI. Atria AI represents an end-to-end artificial intelligence model that excels at perceiving its surroundings and making informed driving decisions. Hyundai Motor has ambitious plans to commence mass production of Level 2++ vehicles equipped with Atria AI in the latter half of 2029. The company intends to leverage real-world driving data to continuously refine and enhance the technology, with a phased approach to its implementation in mass-produced vehicles. The ultimate objective is to attain Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities. Furthermore, Hyundai Motor is forging a strategic partnership with U.S. chip manufacturer NVIDIA to expedite the commercialization of cutting-edge driving assistance and autonomous driving systems. As per the outlined plan, Hyundai Motor will debut Level 2+ autonomous driving technology—developed in collaboration with NVIDIA—in its inaugural mass-produced software-defined vehicle (SDV) during the first half of 2028. Subsequently, Level 2++ mass-produced vehicles are slated for launch in the latter half of the same year.
