Audi has nearly completed its strategic realignment of brand resources for the Chinese market. Under this new arrangement, the iconic four-ring emblem—which represents both traditional fuel vehicles and pure electric models built on the PPE platform—will be fully managed by FAW-Audi. Meanwhile, SAIC Audi will phase out sales of vehicles bearing the four-ring logo. Instead, it will focus on the AUDI brand, a tailored smart electric vehicle lineup developed specifically for the Chinese market. This new lineup will be based on the ADP electric platform and feature letter-based branding exclusively.
Currently, SAIC Audi has halted production of all models bearing the four-ring emblem. These vehicles are being cleared from inventory at discounted prices until stocks are depleted. Moving forward, SAIC Audi plans to introduce new models such as the E5 and E7X, along with iterative updates to its lineup.
A SAIC Audi executive explained that the letter-based logo better aligns with the brand’s positioning as a smart electric vehicle innovator. The strategic shift marks a transition from relying on the four-ring emblem to empower products, to a future where cutting-edge products will define and elevate the brand itself.
