On August 26, the Information Office of the State Council convened a press conference titled "Kicking Off the 15th Five-Year Plan with Strong Momentum" to provide an overview of the plan's implementation and the progress in advancing new industrialization. Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, highlighted the growing international clout of China's new energy vehicle (NEV) sector. He noted that Chinese NEV products are now exported to over 100 countries and regions, and a cohort of competitive leading enterprises has emerged, making NEVs a hallmark of "Made in China."

However, Xin also acknowledged that the industry is still grappling with challenges, notably the prevalent issue of irrational competition. He pointed out that some aggressive innovation designs have been rolled out without adequate testing and verification. This has led to a spate of incidents related to automotive product quality and autonomous driving safety, which have garnered significant public attention. Addressing these issues effectively will be a key focus during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
