On August 26, the Information Office of the State Council hosted a press conference centered on the "Commencement of the 15th Five-Year Plan," which discussed the execution of the 15th Five-Year Plan and the strides made in advancing new industrialization. Xin Guobin, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), tackled the matter of retired power batteries from new energy vehicles. He mentioned that during the 15th Five-Year Plan era, pertinent administrative rules will be examined and formulated. Collaborative law enforcement initiatives will be undertaken to standardize the recycling process, and a digital ID management system for power batteries will be put in place to guarantee that their origins are traceable and their destinations are verifiable. It is anticipated that by 2030, the total utilization of used power batteries will surpass one million metric tons.
