Tesla has unveiled two recall initiatives. The inaugural recall, set to commence on September 25, 2026, encompasses specific domestically manufactured Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, alongside imported Model 3, Model X, and Model S models, aggregating to a total of 2,975,910 units. The impetus for this recall stems from the emergency mechanical handles within these vehicles, which are not readily discernible or operable, posing a potential hindrance to escape and rescue operations under dire circumstances. To rectify this, Tesla will furnish complimentary warning labels for the vehicles in question and implement an over-the-air (OTA) update to enhance the window control software.

The second recall takes effect immediately and targets certain domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles, manufactured from March 4, 2019, to December 7, 2025, with a cumulative total of 2,740,642 units. The underlying cause for this recall is the inadequate attention monitoring mechanisms when the assisted steering feature is engaged. Tesla intends to address this by deploying an OTA software update to incorporate in-cabin camera monitoring capabilities. In instances where OTA updates are infeasible, Tesla's service centers will reach out to the vehicle owners to facilitate the necessary adjustments.
