Technological lighting effects such as 'breathing through-type lights' and 'fun light screens capable of drawing' have become symbols of technology and intelligence for new energy vehicles. However, while these designs are favored by automakers, they have sparked dissatisfaction among other road users. A recent article in Qilu Evening News pointed out numerous issues with the taillight designs of new energy vehicles, such as brake lights being too bright or too dim, turn signals being too small to identify, and brake lights not illuminating during kinetic energy recovery, all of which pose threats to driving safety. The taillight layouts of new energy vehicles from different brands vary significantly, with some signal lights positioned inconspicuously and others using through-type light strips that lack sufficient brightness differentiation when braking, causing drivers of following vehicles to need extra time to discern the intentions of the vehicle ahead. Additionally, some models do not illuminate their brake lights when decelerating during kinetic energy recovery, increasing the risk of rear-end collisions. Although the new national standard, 'Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Passenger Car Braking Systems,' has been implemented, mandating that brake lights must be illuminated when regenerative braking deceleration exceeds standards, loopholes still exist in some models. The National Technical Committee for Automobile Standardization is currently revising relevant standards to regulate the installation and use of vehicle lighting, thereby enhancing the safety performance of automotive products.
