Recently, German media outlets have reported that Porsche intends to halt production of its pioneering all-electric sedan, the Taycan, by the year 2030. It is rumored that Porsche's works council has, in principle, reached an agreement with the management to gradually phase out the Taycan around 2030, although no official documents have been signed as of yet. In response to these reports, Porsche's German headquarters clarified that the company is actually streamlining the number of Taycan derivative models to simplify its product lineup, rather than discontinuing the entire Taycan range. The company also emphasized that it has no plans to discontinue the model in the near future. Porsche has invested substantial resources in the development of the Taycan and will continue to assess its future development trajectory based on evolving market demands.

The Taycan, Porsche's first all-electric four-door sports sedan, made its grand debut in 2019. Since then, it has seen the launch of multiple versions and undergone annual facelifts. Market data reveals that global deliveries of the Taycan reached their peak at approximately 41,000 units in 2023. However, sales have since declined steadily, dropping to around 29,000 units in 2024, roughly 16,000 units in 2025, and a mere 6,000 units in the first half of 2026. In the Chinese market, the sales figures for the first five months of 2026 were particularly disappointing, reaching only 110 units, which averages out to about 22 units per month, highlighting its poor market performance.
