This initiative earmarks $135.5 million to offer instant subsidies of up to $3,500 to eligible first-time car purchasers, expected to benefit approximately 73,000 buyers of zero-emission vehicles. As per the policy details, California residents who opt for 2026 model year or newer all-electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, priced below $50,000, are entitled to a $3,500 subsidy. Meanwhile, those purchasing used new energy vehicles priced under $25,000 can avail themselves of subsidies reaching up to $1,750. Furthermore, low-income individuals have the opportunity to seek enhanced financial assistance through the 'Clean Cars 4 All' program. A total of fifteen automakers, including prominent names like Tesla and Hyundai, have agreed to contribute matching funds on a 1:1 ratio.
