On August 6, the rankings of international auto groups' global sales market share for the first half of 2026 were unveiled, revealing that three Chinese automakers have made their way into the global top ten. Notably, BYD has claimed the sixth position, Geely Group stands at seventh, and Chery Group shares the ninth spot with the US-based Ford. Collectively, these three companies command a 13.5% share of the global market.
In the detailed rankings, Toyota maintains a solid lead at the top with an 11% share, followed by Volkswagen in second place with 8.1%, and Hyundai Kia in third with 7.6%. The Stellantis Group and the Renault-Nissan Alliance occupy the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. BYD, Geely, and Chery secure the sixth, seventh, and ninth positions with shares of 4.8%, 4.6%, and 4.1%, respectively.
Industry experts view the concurrent entry of three Chinese automakers into the global top ten as a significant milestone, reflecting the large-scale and global expansion of China's automotive industry.
