During the first half of this year, close to 70,000 electric vehicles manufactured in China were newly registered in South Korea. This figure represents a significant year-on-year surge of 178.7%, and these vehicles constituted 35% of the total newly registered electric vehicles in South Korea. For the first time, Chinese-made electric vehicles accounted for more than one-third of the market share. The introduction of Chinese electric vehicles into the South Korean market has not only boosted the popularity of electric vehicles and expanded consumer options but has also exerted operational pressure on local South Korean automakers, thereby intensifying competition within the industrial chain.
