GAC Toyota has declared a recall for two batches of bZ4X all-electric vehicles, effective from August 1, 2026. The first batch, encompassing 15,266 units, was manufactured between October 28, 2025, and June 15, 2026. Owing to a software glitch in the smart Bluetooth module, these vehicles might inadvertently shift from D gear to N gear while in motion. The affected software will be updated free of charge, either through OTA (Over-The-Air) updates or at authorized dealerships. In urgent situations, drivers can restore D gear by pressing the brake or safely pull over to the roadside. The second batch, totaling 24,286 units, was produced from October 28, 2025, to July 10, 2026. Due to a software defect in the thermal management controller, the air conditioning compressor and water heater may cease functioning, which, in extreme circumstances, could impair driving visibility.
