On July 31, Meituan, in partnership with Suzhou Public Security, officially released the first version of the “Red-Light Stopwatch” feature tailored for food delivery riders. This innovative tool automatically tracks the time riders spend waiting at red lights and adjusts the estimated delivery time accordingly. Currently, the feature is undergoing on-road testing in Suzhou, covering roughly 1,100 intersections across Gusu District and Suzhou Industrial Park. Meanwhile, Beijing and Wuxi are conducting integration tests in tandem, while more than 20 other cities—including Shanghai and Hangzhou—are evaluating its performance. The feature will be progressively introduced in cities that meet the necessary requirements.
