Following the issuance of a substantial profit warning, BMW Group’s newly appointed CEO, Milan Nedeljković, has opted to reduce expenditures by pulling out of the Paris Motor Show scheduled for October this year, attributing the decision to 'shifted priorities.' Back in June, BMW had already revised downward its forecast for the automotive business’s EBIT margin, anticipating a notable decrease in full-year pre-tax profits and a slight dip in vehicle deliveries. The profits and free cash flow recorded in the second quarter were significantly lower compared to the same period the previous year, marking the third consecutive year that BMW has issued profit warnings. BMW management has pinpointed the downturn in the Chinese automotive market, escalating energy costs stemming from the situation in the Middle East, and diminishing global consumer confidence as the main factors behind this trend. Additionally, they have unveiled plans to bolster structural adjustments, boost efficiency, and expedite cost-cutting initiatives.
