At the 2026 China Auto Forum, Zhu Jiangming, the Chairman of Leapmotor, expressed his view that plug-in hybrid technology, particularly exemplified by extended-range models, is far from reaching its twilight. This technology is well-suited for regions where the application scenarios for pure electric vehicles are constrained and the charging infrastructure is not well-established, such as Northeast China and Southeast Asia. According to Zhu Jiangming, large-battery plug-in hybrid vehicles are poised to demonstrate robust performance in overseas markets over the next 5 to 10 years.
