Insider sources reveal that XPENG Motors is set to roll out the IRON humanoid robot on a global scale by 2027. The company anticipates that the monthly production volume of this robot will surpass 1,000 units by the year's end. In the initial phase of 2027, the IRON humanoid robot will be deployed as a shopping guide assistant in domestic brick-and-mortar stores, with plans to extend its presence to international stores later that year. This initiative marks a significant milestone in XPENG Motors' evolution into a tangible artificial intelligence enterprise, as it seeks to leverage its proprietary AI and autonomous driving technologies, initially developed for the electric vehicle sector, into the realm of humanoid robotics.
XPENG Motors first showcased the robot's conceptual model last November. Concurrently, the company is also venturing into the development of autonomous driving taxis and flying cars, as part of its broader strategy to diversify its business portfolio. Analysts at Morgan Stanley predict that the humanoid robot industry could witness a phase of rapid commercialization this year. Should XPENG successfully spearhead this emerging sector, it is poised to significantly bolster the company's revenue streams.
