On July 15, it was reported that car purchase subsidies and high fuel prices are prompting European consumers to abandon best-selling fuel-powered models such as the T-Cross. In response, Volkswagen plans to launch a compact SUV, the ID. Cross, to expand its lineup of affordable electric vehicles. With a starting price of approximately €28,000 (around $32,000), the ID. Cross will further enrich Volkswagen's range of affordable urban electric vehicles, competing with models such as BYD's Dolphin series. Volkswagen announced on Wednesday that the model is now available for pre-order, although versions equipped with smaller batteries will be launched later. The ID. Cross, along with Volkswagen's new Polo, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq, will offer a pure electric driving experience at a lower price point. All models will be produced in Spain, where production costs are significantly lower than at the company's headquarters in Germany.
