Volkswagen has indicated in an internal memorandum that, in an effort to bridge the cost disparity with its rivals, the automaker might be compelled to implement an additional round of layoffs affecting roughly 50,000 workers. This comes on top of the 50,000 job cuts that had already been previously agreed upon. The company is currently assessing potential layoff adjustments across its diverse brand portfolio and regional subsidiaries, given that its present operational expenses surpass the industry average by approximately 20%.
