According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, in May 2026, China’s passenger vehicle market share across 31 European countries surpassed Japan’s for the first time. The combined sales of five Chinese automakers reached 138,400 units, marking a year-on-year increase of 65%. In contrast, the sales of six Japanese automakers totaled 130,400 units, experiencing a year-on-year decline of 3%. Chinese automakers achieved a monthly lead, with a sales advantage of approximately 6%.
