On June 30, Honda Motor disclosed that the capital restructuring and transition of Astemo to a subsidiary status, initially set to conclude in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2027, would be delayed until the end of the third quarter of the same fiscal year. This postponement is attributed to ongoing antitrust assessments and regulatory clearances required in select countries and regions. As per the arrangement, Honda will purchase an extra 21% share in Astemo from Hitachi, elevating its ownership stake to 61%. Consequently, Hitachi will retain a 19% share, while JIC Capital will hold 20%. Upon completion, Astemo will officially become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Honda. This strategic maneuver is designed to expedite Astemo's development in the realms of artificial intelligence, software, and software-defined vehicles, thereby bolstering the overall competitiveness of the Honda group.
