Uber and Alphabet's autonomous driving subsidiary, Waymo, have officially ended their autonomous driving partnership in Phoenix, Arizona. Previously, as per a 2023 agreement, Uber had successfully integrated Waymo's cutting-edge autonomous vehicles into its ride-hailing services and food delivery platforms, offering customers a glimpse into the future of transportation. However, the landscape of this partnership has now shifted. Currently, Uber is gearing up to forge a new autonomous vehicle alliance in Phoenix, although details regarding the new partner remain under wraps. Prior to the dissolution of their collaboration, Waymo had to recall nearly 3,900 self-driving taxis across the United States, citing software glitches as the primary reason.
