On August 31, 2025, the renowned British automaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) became the target of a cyberattack executed by the notorious hacker group 'Clop'. This malicious act led to the immediate cessation of production at JLR's three key manufacturing plants in the UK and compelled the suspension of work for 33,000 employees. The hackers, cleverly masquerading as IT staff, managed to infiltrate JLR's core systems and wiped out crucial data, encompassing production directives and supply chain timetables. In a bid to contain the spread of the virus, JLR swiftly shut down its global IT infrastructure, effectively paralyzing its production lines for several weeks. The repercussions of this incident were substantial for JLR. A single factory alone incurred daily losses of £38.4 million, culminating in cumulative losses of nearly 10 billion RMB over the course of three weeks. Concurrently, around 5,000 upstream and downstream enterprises were adversely affected, grappling with order disruptions and cash flow crises. The British Suppliers Alliance promptly appealed to the government for assistance to avert widespread closures.
