On June 26, the MV Eastern Wisdom, the world’s inaugural 24,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship, was officially handed over and commenced its maiden voyage from a wharf along the Yangtze River in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. This milestone event took place under the vigilant oversight and with the comprehensive support of the Nantong Maritime Safety Administration.
The vessel, boasting an impressive overall length of 399.99 meters and a moulded breadth of 61.3 meters, is designed to accommodate a maximum of 24,168 standard containers, setting a new benchmark as the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel container ship to date.
Fitted with a cutting-edge methanol dual-fuel propulsion system, the MV Eastern Wisdom is capable of substantially curtailing carbon emissions through the utilization of green methanol. This innovative vessel embodies the fusion of large-scale operational capabilities, low-carbon technologies, and intelligent design, marking a significant leap forward in China’s endeavors within the realm of clean energy shipbuilding.
