Notwithstanding the breakdown of merger discussions, Honda and Nissan persist in forging ahead with their business collaboration. The two automotive giants have now reached the conclusive phase of intensive negotiations concerning the collaborative development of next-generation automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs). Their plan is to diminish component expenses by standardizing ECUs, with an anticipation of formalizing an agreement this coming summer. The ECUs developed through this joint effort are projected to be integrated into vehicles from both companies by 2029. Furthermore, Mitsubishi Motors, a company in which Nissan possesses a stake, is also set to participate in this collaborative venture.
