Commencing on July 1, 2026, two mandatory national standards—namely, the (GB18384-2025) and the (GB38031-2025)—will come into official effect. Regarding vehicle safety, the new national standards stipulate that vehicles must be equipped with a physical one-touch power-off mechanism. This replaces software-reliant power-off methods, thereby enhancing the reliability and responsiveness of accident rescue operations. When it comes to power batteries, the new standards extend the duration without fire or explosion following thermal runaway from 5 minutes to 2 hours. Additionally, they introduce new test items, such as bottom impact tests and safety tests after fast-charging cycles. These measures are designed to ensure that batteries maintain safety and stability under a variety of extreme conditions.
