Data released on Tuesday by consulting firm Benchmark Mineral Intelligence (BMI) revealed that, propelled by the combined effects of subsidy policy adjustments and soaring oil prices, which spurred a transition from fuel-powered vehicles to new energy vehicles, global demand for electric vehicles experienced a third consecutive monthly increase in May. BMI highlighted that the number of newly registered pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles rose by 3% year-on-year in May, totaling approximately 1.8 million units. This growth drove a 0.9% year-on-year uptick in total sales for the first five months of this year.
